From then until now, many forces are aligned to prevent the spread of the story: "Jesus is risen!"

When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, "you are to say, 'His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.' If this report gets to the governor we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble." So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed.

It's not a level playing field. Throughout the scriptures we witness resistance to the spread and propagation of the good news. Hostile reactions, and above, even an active plot to cover-up the mighty acts of God. The next time you hear the faith insulted or derided do not be surprised. Yet take heart...

We live in the light of the Risen Christ. Rejoice, Christ is risen!
