TAME & DOMESTICATED

Life has tamed and domesticated us, and the god we worship also is tame and domesticated.

Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, "Why couldn't we drive it out?"
He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move Nothing will be impossible for you."

Like us, I suspect, Jesus' disciples cannot cast the demon out, and are defeated, and discouraged. When Jesus diagnoses their issue, he tells them it's all about their faith. "You worship a puny god, and your faith is just like the god you worship."

Being tamed, and domesticated...it's so much easier to control than wild and powerful. The prescription Jesus gives the disciples is to reclaim the God of faith and revealed in Christ, and to entrust themselves to him. Nothing tame or domestic about that!
