"THE LORD IS THERE"

March 13, 2013

We often name things, even our children, based largely on the sound of the name. We like how it sounds.

And the name of the city from that time on will be: THE LORD IS THERE.
                                                  --Ezekiel 48:35 TNIV

The words of Ezekiel speak to a terrible time in the life of the people of God: of living in exile in Babylon, but also a wonderful day to come, a restoration of the people in the promised homeland, and the return to the city of Jerusalem, rebuilt and pristine. The last words of Ezekiel's prophecy are the words above, a reminder of where they live.

None of us live in a place named, "The Lord is there," but most of us have passed through the waters of baptism. We may have trouble seeing the letters that baptism writes on our hearts and on our foreheads, but the letters are there: J-E-S-U-S. We are the Lord's, Jesus' name is written on our lives. Remember this today and every day.

Joyfully,
