WANTING OUT

April 1, 2013

Ever want out? You find yourself in a situation, and now that you are there, "Why did I do this?" All you want is for it to be over and out.

"My Father if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."   - Matthew 26:42 TNIV

The day after Easter, but still reading the story of Jesus praying in Gethsemane, I concede it's a bit odd. Yet in light of resurrection let's consider that Jesus is both fully divine and fully human. And when he prays here, he says, "I want out." Yet "I" does not have the last will, he is submitted to his Father's will.

The triumph of an empty tomb and the announcement, "He is not here, he is risen," still summons you and me to the reality: "Thy will be done." Let us be about doing our Father's will today.

Joyfully,
