Jesus starts his ministry with the basics, but not the 3R's of reading, wRiting, and aRithmetic.
Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.'"

We can be a very harsh, and judgmental people. Jesus chooses a tax collector to be on his team. We wouldn't choose such a loser. Jesus' teaching flows from the gutsy good news. But his lesson for us is "learn mercy."
How might our lives be different if we emphasized mercy in all we do? Mercy...it's one of the Jesus Way 3Rs.
