WISDOM

February 6, 2012

Much that passes as common sense, street wisdom, Job learns, is simply baloney!

But I desire to speak to the Almighty and to argue my case with God. You, however, smear me with lies, you are worthless physicians, all of you! If only you would be altogether silent! For you, that would be wisdom.
                                                   ---Job 13:3-5 TNIV

Job's friends' comfort and counsel is worthless, says Job. The wisest thing they could do is hush. Wisdom does not necessarily come with age and experience, nor is it found in pop common sense. What Job really wants is to stop the platitudes, and to have his own conversation with God, mano y mano.

Well, as we learn, the friends do not hush, but Job does get closer to his face to face with God. And through it all, he hangs on.
Joyfully,
