LIFE AND DEAD

"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?" (Romans 6:1)

Consequently, In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.
--Romans 6:11,12 TNIV

Romans is an unfolding chain of thought. Having established the reality of sin, then the good news of salvation and new life in Christ, Paul pauses to say, "So what?" So saved, forgiven, redeemed, is it anything goes? No way! Here he speaks that we in Christ are about life and dead. We are dead to the old ways and alive to a new way. Part of discipleship is to live for life, and make no harbor for that which "deads" us.

Today, in Christ, you are forgiven. So...don't play with the dead, live, thrive in that which gives life. "Do not let sin reign in your mortal body..." It's a matter of life and dead!
