WISDOM

What is it, wisdom? If you were to be granted ten wishes by the genie with the magic lamp, for what would you wish? Would any of them be marks of character, even wisdom?

Solomon answered God, "You have shown great kindness to David my father, and made me king in his place....Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?"
                               --2 Chronicles 1:8,10 TNIV

When Solomon starts his reign as king of the people of God, it moves him to prayer, and his prayer is for wisdom. But what about his needs? Solomon had prior wisdom to come to the throne of God's grace and pray in the first place! But then his wisdom is such that above all his needs is the need for, yes, wisdom.

Sure seems odd that someone so wise, is still wise enough to ask for wisdom. In what place on our prayer list does the request for wisdom rest?
