DOZING

Ever doze off? You are in the middle of some task, and you sort of fall asleep--asleep, maybe literally, or you simply disconnect, lose focus, for a wee bit.
Then Jesus returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Simon," he said to Peter, "are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour! Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Peter and the others are given a task by Jesus. Pray with him; stay on watch. But they doze off. Oh, they meant to stay alert, but they didn't.
Jesus tells us to be on watch too. In our lives, we can risk dozing off. We may not be in Gethsemane today, but we are to be alert. Discipleship implies not dozing off, but staying alert to follow Christ.
