HEZEKIAH 1

July 7, 2011

Hezekiah is not a book in the Bible, but one of the great kings of the people of God, of Judah.  Hezekiah the Great.  Faithfulness and courage is what made him great.

"Do not let Hezekiah deceive you.  He cannot deliver you from my hand.  Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the Lord when he says, "The Lord will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria."
                                                 - 2 Kings 18:32,33 TNIV

King Hezekiah is called one of the greatest of the kings of Judah to rival even David.  And he's up against it.  The mightiest army in the world, the Assyrians, have laid siege to Jerusalem.  But Hezekiah urges the people to remain faithful--so not only is he a king, but a pastor-preacher.  All the empirical data tells the people to surrender, to cave in to the might of Assyria, but Hezekiah says, "No."

You might take a read of 2 Kings 18 & 19.  Two thrilling chapters and a summons to faithfulness.  Hezekiah is all that stands between the Assyrian army, and the fears of the people of God.  What to do?  So what do you do?  Well?  Stay tuned to Hezekiah 2.

Joyfully,
