Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

STRONG

In an hour or so, I will be off to the YMCA for a a brief workout. Once upon a time it was so I could be "strong." But that time is long gone. Now it's merely to stay alive.

Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.
                                                     - Psalm 84:5-7 TNIV

Ever know a person who lights up a room when they enter? Ever know a person instill confidence amongst those who are anxious? The Psalmist is one of those persons. "Blessed are those whose strength is in you..." Even when they pass through a desolate wasteland, Baka, it's transformed into an oasis. That's strength.

Such strength though is not inherent to the person, but "whose strength is in you," the Lord. We can't pick that up at the YMCA, but only in a growing relationship with God.
