Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

SOUL CARE

May 5, 2009

C.S. Lewis said, "We humans do not have souls; we are souls." It's not an organ, or a body part, but our being. Yet we often continue to live part by part.

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.

- 3 John 2 TNIV

John starts his third letter as many of us do with a "how ya doing?" To be sure, he's concerned about his "dear friend's" health, but he takes it deeper. You know we can be physically fit, and the outward circumstances of our lives can be peachy keen, but sick in our person, our self, suffer a deflated soul.

So how's your soul? The prayer that John prays for his dear friend, and the prayer we can pray for one another is far beyond getting over our cancer, for John wants our hearts, our spirits, our soul to be cancer free. That's a concern, a care for our soul.
Joyfully,
