INCARNATION INDEED!

March 4, 2009

Christians sometimes hear the word, "incarnation," in the flesh. That Jesus is Immanuel, God in the flesh. How true, how so.

Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover."
- Luke 22:7,8 TNIV

Incarnation. God comes in the flesh. Typically we think of the baby Jesus in the manger, and say, "Ah, yes, God come in the flesh." But everything about Jesus' life and ministry speaks of incarnation. Do you want to know the father? Get to know the Son; he is the incarnation of the father. In his flesh, his "carne," he took upon himself our sins. In his flesh and blood is our redemption, our rescue.

And the Passover. He not only ate the Passover with his disciples, he is the Passover lamb. The angel of death passed over the homes of all with the Passover lamb's blood in Egypt that terrible night. And in Christ, the angel of death passes over all who trust him. Incarnation indeed!
Joyfully,
