REPITITION

March 5, 2009

When my mom wanted to catch my attention, she'd repeat herself. "Listen, Listen to me." That meant I better obey her. Repetition.

Then Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." - Luke 22:39,40 TNIV

On the road to the cross, and the challenges he and his disciples will face, he says, "You better pray, or you're going to be easy pickings." But they don't, they sleep instead. "When [Jesus] rose from prayer, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. 'Why are you sleeping?' he asked them. 'Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.'" (vv. 22:45,46) Repetition. So?

How's our prayer life? Most of us are do-ers, we have little time for praying. Oh, except to worry, fret, and "be concerned," etc. Pray. Pray. "Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation."
Joyfully,
