I AM GOD

November 8, 2010

"I am God." This theme comes up numerous times in the Bible. Why? Is God insecure, wanting to make sure we know? Or is it something else?

Remember this, keep it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels. Remember the former things, those of long ago;
I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me.
- Isaiah 46:8,9 TNIV

Yes, something else: You and me, we humans. We are in a perennial wrestling match with God, trying to be gods unto ourselves. We are always usurping what is not ours, deceived into believing we are in a better place from which to judge whether God is worthy or not. That makes us gods!

However...we're not. Isaiah, like others, reminds us. Apparently a daily reminder is needed. Actually our God, the one who says, "I am God," this God is much better at God-things than us, of course!

Joyfully,
