PRAY FOR THEM

April 28, 2009

It's a good thing to pray for one another. It's part of community to pray for healing, for people struggling with troublesome times. Yet other aspects of prayer, we sometimes overlook.

If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death.
- 1 John 5:16 TNIV

Sin is a serious business, not just psychologically, but judicially, though not beyond the pale of God's grace and forgiveness. Yes, John speaks of a sin unto death, reminding us of the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). But this tangent exceeds today's topic, and is not an immediate concern here, but prayer is.

John tells us to pray for one another. Pray that we turn to Christ in daily obedience, and holy living. Let's spend a little less time judging and a little more time praying. Maybe somebody's praying for us.
Joyfully,
