ISAIAH

September 10, 2010

Isaiah was a prophet to the people of God. Like a coach, a prophet is one who says things we may not want to hear, but helps us become what we really want to be, in this case, the people of God.

I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me. The ox knows its master, the donkey its owner's manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand. - Isaiah 1:2,3 TNIV

Isaiah speaks to the people of God, people who said they wanted to be God's people, but they quickly drifted away into other pursuits, and sometimes other gods. Prophets almost always were right. Rarely were they honored. Usually ignored. Too often killed. But prophets like Isaiah were merely the word of God to the people.
So Isaiah starts his words saying: "Y'all are children who've forgotten who's your daddy! Not even an ox or a donkey make that mistake. So why are you?"
Joyfully,
