LOVE A FEELING?

 Love, A Feeling?

Of course it's a feeling! Anyone who's ever loved knows this obvious truth. But there's more.
This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands.
- 1 John 5:2,3 TNIV 

The Apostle John also knew that love is a feeling. But he knew that ultimately, especially as followers of Christ, that love is a verb. So John returns to this truth that needs remembering. Love is a verb. I can say, "I love God," but if I do not love God's people, hmmm? Or, I can say, "I love God," but if a longing to obey my Lord, and to pursue holiness is not a growing part of my life, well???

Love is a verb. Feelings are nice, like a fragrance, or a savory flavor. But John tells us as believers--we see belief, when we see love, not just feel it.
