POSTURE

July 21, 2010

Posture
Posture tells us much. When my dog approaches me, her genetic ancestry kicks in and she lowers her head, a sign of deference. She acknowledges that I'm in charge, as they say, the "Alpha wolf."

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker, for he is our god and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.
- Psalm 95:6,7 TNIV

Notice the posture of worship: bow down, kneel. God is the alpha, and we are not. Our relationship with God draws much from our posture. We are also a people not used to bowing down to anyone, or kneeling unto another. Yet faithfulness in worship here is described by our posture.

Pride and arrogance prevent people from bowing down to anyone, from kneeling even before our God. Yet our posture tells us much about the honesty and the vitality of our relationship with the living God.
Joyfully,
