TOO MUCH TO BEAR

Sometimes we're just not ready for the situation, for the information that we need. Yet the time comes when we are ready.

In John 16, Jesus moves into what ends up being his last words to his disciples. And he says, "You can't handle all I have to tell you, but..." You can't bear it now. But you will. He speaks of not only the Holy Spirit's presence with us, but also of our growing up.

Are we growing up? Discipleship is about growth, maturity, coming to the time when we can bear it in Christ's growing power in our lives. What if we were to pray not only to grow up, but that we make it a goal of ours to grow...to be growing, flourishing followers of Christ?
