A CHILD'S RESOURCES

April 30, 2010

Most young children count upon adults to take care of them, to provide for them. As a result, they seldom carry much in terms of material resources, moolah, that is.

"There is a boy here who has five barley loves and two fish. But what are they among so many people?" Jesus said, "Make the people sit down."
--John 6:9-10 NRSV

One of Jesus' incredible acts is born in the meager resources of a young lad. Hundreds, thousands crowd to Jesus, and he takes it upon his disciples and himself to feed them. But with what? A quick inventory and they find a boy with some bread and fish, but 5000? No way. Yet when the meal is served and completed, all have dined well, and with leftovers. All from a child's resources.
Maybe we need to trust the resources we possess to Jesus' care. It's not the little, the meager, but like the young boy, stand back and see what Jesus can do with a child's inventory. Make yourself available, and see what Jesus does.
Joyfully,
