YES! Vol 9 No 10

Dear Friend,

How do you feel when someone keeps a promise or breaks one?  There is something wonderfully affirming and reassuring in a promise made and kept and something deeply painful in a promise made and broken.

In these days before Easter when we consider the ministry of Jesus in the days leading up to his final journey to Jerusalem, it is a good time to reflect on this significant aspect of Jesus’ character:  Jesus never made a promise he did not or does not keep.

The Apostle Paul put it marvelously in his second letter to the Corinthians, “For in him [Jesus] every one of God’s promises is a ‘Yes.’” II Corinthians 1:20*  Jesus is the “yes” to all of God’s promises to us.

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28  YES!

”I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you.” John 14:18 YES!

“Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:19-20  YES and YES!

Jesus offers the ultimate YES to your life!

In whatever is happening at the present moment, in whatever you anticipate with joy or anxiety in the days ahead, the promises of our Lord to be with you, help you, sustain you and lift you will be answered with a YES.  Praise God!
