Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

WISDOM OF WORD

January 25, 2010

I'm not sure why you read "Enjoy Life, Enjoy God." I write it more than 250 times per year to encourage you in your discipleship, and to re-connect you with the Word of God. In it is life.

Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.
Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever.
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.
- Psalm 112:1-5 TNIV

The Psalmist prays and is not so much providing us a contract, but praying into the wisdom of God. For example, being "upright" is not a guarantee of wealth and riches, that all goes well with your children and household, but there is great wisdom in such. The reason we are "upright" is not because it works, faith is not mere pragmatism. We are upright because it is right; it honors God.

Coming to this Psalm is a reminder, and a invitation to recommit to say, "Yes, this is life wisdom. Yes, this is how I shall live." That's the wisdom of the Word, and its invitation to us.
Joyfully,
