THE END?

March 19, 2009

At the end of the movie or a book, a story, we see the words, of think the words, "The End." But sometimes it's not, it's not the end.

Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures, "This is what is written...I am going to send you what my Father has promised, but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."
- Luke 24:45,49 TNIV

The end of the Gospel of Luke. Really? As often the case it was just the beginning, for Luke's gospel lives through our lives, invites people to faith, convicts people of sin, instills hope in wearied lives...these words, this story, the story of Jesus Christ lives on. This is part of what it means to be the risen Lord and a resurrection people.

Not the end by a long shot. Since last November we have been exploring the life-giving hope in Luke's Gospel. I invite you in Christ's name to return to it again and again. Sometimes it will stomp on our toes, and others it will be a balm in Gilead. But it is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Plus...don't miss the encouragement: He's opened our minds to "get it."
Joyfully,
