Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

ENJOY LIFE, ENJOY GOD, BUT...

August 25, 2009

My goal for Enjoy Life, Enjoy God is to give its readers, most of you Christ-followers, a word from our God to be an uplift, an encouragement, or a loving and substantive boot in the seat. But every now and then I bump into scripture that makes that pretty darn hard to pull off. Romans 1:18-32 illustrates this.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools...
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts...
-Romans 1:21,22,24 TNIV

Enjoy Life, Enjoy God, but to do so, is to heed Christ's lordship in our lives moment by moment. To be sure, in Romans 1:18-32, Paul writes to the first century infant church. Yet Christians understand and believe that much of that thought applies and describes times beyond just the first century, like today. So?

So, I cannot really do all that much about the world around me, but I am responsible for me, as are you, for yourself. How shall we glorify God, honor God and our commitment to God's lordship in our lives today? How do our thoughts stay centered on Christ. Maybe you can pray with me , "Lord, help us to live such a life, and never let it be said of us that our hearts became darkened, foolish, and above all, that you gave us over..."
Joyfully,
