GPS

July 20, 2009

One of the functions of a GPS, a global positioning system, is to guide us on our journey. In Christ, could it be that we have a different GPS?

On the day the tabernacle, the tent of the covenant law, was set up, the cloud covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire. That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire. Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out; whenever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.
-Numbers 9:16,17 TNIV

"Guide us, O thou Great Jehovah..." goes the old hymn." The hymn is a prayer for God's guidance in the details of our daily journey. Early on, the Israelites learned to look to God to guide them in the details. And day or night, they did not move, unless so guided.

We don't have a cloud of smoke, or a pillar of fire, but our GPS, a God-Positioning System, comes alive when daily we seek God's leadership, guidance in the details of our lives. I'm convinced, and it is the witness of 2000 years of discipleship, that people who seek God's positioning, God's leadership will know blessing. Seek God's leadership, God's guidance today, and tomorrow, my friend.
Joyfully,
