Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

Reading good biography is a great discipline, and a substantive encouragement. I've spoken of biography many times.

Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcomes of their way of life and imitate their faith.
- Hebrews 13:7 TNIV

Reading biography teaches history, but more important, it can inspire, show how others have overcome the challenges of real life, and often it stirs within a desire to be a better person. The closing sentences of Hebrews provide one liners of encouragement, even kicks in the head of sorts.

"Remember your leaders...imitate their faith." We're doing the blessing of biography when we remember our leaders and are inspired by them to imitate their virtue and courage. Sure, there are terrible examples not to imitate, but imitation can be more than a form of flattery, it can bring us life.
