LOSS-KNOW
July 10, 2013
Paul thinks back on his life as a Christ-follower, and says he embraces both loss and "know."
But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord for whose sake I have lost all things...I want to know Christ--yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings...
-Philippians 3:7,8,10 TNIV
What's your inventory? Paul had a most impressive resume of bloodline and accomplishments. It meant nothing to him once he met Jesus and became his follower. That's his "loss." Yet he wanted more. He wanted to know the fullness of Christ at work in his life, the power of resurrection and the challenge of suffering.
And what of us? What is your goal for today and tomorrow? How does your commitment to Christ shape that goal?
Joyfully,
Dale Patterson
