ANOTHER JOSEPH
April 10, 2013
There's Joseph, the one with the many-colored coat who becomes Prime Minister of Egypt. And there's the Joseph who takes Mary for his wife and Jesus for his son. But there's still another Joseph.
As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus.
--Matthew 27:57 TNIV
Not all of Jesus' followers were tax collectors, ragtag fishermen, but Joseph of Arimathea was a "somebody." He is the one who arranged for the claiming of Jesus' body, it's proper care, and he provided the tomb for burial. But most important, more important than his somebody-status, he became a Christ-follower, a disciple.
What about you? Christ-follower, disciple. I didn't say, a fan of Jesus, I said, disciple. Do you look more like a fan of Jesus, or a disciple?
Joyfully,
Dale Patterson
