Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

WAVERING

June 16, 2009

It's a common theme of the Bible, and discipleship, even Mother Teresa wrote of it: Wavering in the faith when God disappears.

Is it not you, God, you who now have rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?
Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless.
With God we will gain the victory and he will trample down our enemies.

- Psalm 60:10-12 TNIV

Even King David knew dark times, times when God disappeared. Yet David lives a discipline. He goes daily to that God who seemingly abandoned him and continues his cry, his lament. He perseveres. "Give us aid against the enemy..."

God will not abandon us. David's discipline invites us to do likewise. In spite of wavering, call out to God. Maybe these are the most important prayers we've ever uttered.
Joyfully,
