TRAVEL LIGHT
January 10, 2013
Twenty-six years ago the moving vans brought my modest home and family to DFW. We had ten thousand pounds of "stuff." And we had very little!
Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts--no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for workers are worth their keep.

After twenty-six years, I have sooooo much more stuff. Jesus sends his workers into ministry, into life, and tells them to travel lightly; don't be encumbered.
It's not just our "stuff," but our stuff hooks us, traps us; our commitments to "it" cause us to choose our stuff, instead of Jesus. Discipleship, following Christ, urges us to re-think, to re-practice how we live. The only real bond, the only real resolve is to follow Christ. We struggle to do that when we go around every day with a moving van with us, hauling our stuff.

Joyfully,
