TREE

February 8, 2012

Deciduous trees during their dormant season look dead, right?  But the season changes and they spring back to life.

At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail.  Its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the soil, yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant.
---Job 14:7-9 TNIV

Job's first great prayer in Chapter 13 & 14, cries to God, not understanding his own suffering, God's abandonment, and apparent punishment.  As he prays, he thinks of a tree, even one cut down, and how it wills to spring back to life.  Job felt cut down.

But he holds out hope that like a cut down tree, the day will come when his life will be restored putting forth new shoots of life.  And he prays on.

Joyfully,
