TIMING IRONY

The New Testament teaches us a message repeatedly about not knowing the timing of God's plan, of when Christ's return will happen; yet, it also tells us to be ready, to live like it will happen today. If not ironic, it is somewhat confusing.
...Let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
---1 Thessalonians 5:8,9 TNIV
So what to do? Be ready. How we live this day is important: Wear the clothing of discipleship, live like we know the fulfillment of history is our next breath. Paul illustrates this by helping us get dressed today.
So, even not knowing WHEN, we do know WHAT TO DO. And there's nothing confusing about that!
