PURPLE ROBE

July 29, 2011

Purple often is associated with royalty. A purple robe is one for a king. Jesus was given a purple robe.

And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. They they led him out to crucify him.
                                                  - Mark 15:20 TNIV

But in Jesus' case, the purple robe was a gesture of insult. Given as a king, but only in jest, and then ridiculed, insulted, and finally killed on a tree.

By our lives today, how do we honor Jesus? The way we live today, are we giving him a purple robe of lordship only to take it back, or shall we serve him in joyful obedience? Jesus doesn't want or need a purple robe, but he does want our hearts, our lives.

Joyfully,
