MISTAKEN

July 4, 2011

To be mistaken is not merely about the facts of a matter, but can also rest in the very questions we ask.

"Have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the account of the burning bush, how God said to him, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'?  He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.  You are badly mistaken!"
                                                             - Mark 12:26,27 TNIV

Mark 12 might be nicknamed the Chapter of Foolish Questions.  In the attempt to trap Jesus, and prove him wrong, his critics do the opposite--they illustrate not only their foolishness, but hardness of heart as well.  Such was their mistake when they ask about marriages in heaven.

Jesus urges us not to get bogged down in our limited vision questions.  While the critics messed with marriage in heaven, they missed the issue of life and eternity itself.  Stumbling in our questions, let us not be mistaken about the really big issues.

Joyfully,
