Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

"Anthropocentric" means human-centered.  We live in a day where we humans believe we can and need to do anything.  Truth is, we are capable of amazing accomplishments.  There's nothing we cannot do.  Well...

He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like.  A man scatters seed on the ground.  Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.  All by itself the soil produces grain--first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.  As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come."
                                                      - Mark 4:26-29 TNIV

Don't be surprised when we think that God, and our theology are just like us--that's very anthropocentric.  But God is god, and we're not.  "The kingdom of God is like..."  Yes the farmer sews and tends to the seed, of course, but we cannot reduce kingdom things to technique, formulas, Step One, Step Two, Step Three...that's very human, but it's not necessarily how God gets it done.

We do our human-centered thing.  Go ahead, be about it today.  But our lives need not be reduced to technique, to "steps to faithfulness," "strategies for success," or "fifteen steps to a radical prayer life"...nope.  We're told, the farmer "does not know how."  Yet God is at work, in spite of us.

Joyfully,
