Building One Another

Dear Friend,

Do you find yourself compartmentalizing your life?

Perhaps you have your home life, your social life, your work life, your church life, your volunteer life, your hobby life, your online life and so on. While these life venues may overlap it’s easy to find yourself attending to them one at a time.

Many years ago my friend Stan Ide called my attention to some verses that have remained central to my faith ever since:

We do not live to ourselves, and we do not die to ourselves. If we live, we live
to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or
whether we die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again,
so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living. Romans 14:7-9*

I love this because no matter how complex life may be, regardless of the experience of compartmentalization, even as we face the real prospect of death, in all things in life and in death, it’s about Jesus, the Lord who loves us.

We live for Jesus. We die for Jesus. Whether we live or die we belong to Jesus.

For the one who trusts in and follows Jesus, heaven has already begun! “And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3

So, no matter what is going on in your life this day, know the Lord who loves you is with you. Live for him today!
