IRREGULAR PEOPLE

Do you know any "irregular people," or those I call, "egg-shell people." These are the ones you walk around as if on egg-shells, and the least thing sets them off. They are always looking for a fight.

Warn divisive people once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them.
                                               - Titus 3:10 TNIV

Paul concludes the Titus letter with instructions for getting along with others. There are some people, irregular people, that no matter what you do, there is little rational explanation that will change their behavior. So, "warn them," and if no change occurs move on. I'm not sure what "warn them" means. It surely includes holding them and us accountable, but it does not suggest to keep getting beaten up by relational thugs.

The other side of the coin here, of course, is as we read these words, does it occur to us that we have some egg-shell stuff going on in us as well? Bring it to your Lord.
