EXPECT! Vol 9 No 32

September 28, 2010

Dear Friend,

What do you expect your own life will be like a year from now?

Unless you are facing a known uncertainty such as an illness or some situation whose outcome is unclear, typical responses would be, “I don’t know” or “pretty much the same as today.”

If asked, “What will your church be like a year from now,” most people will respond, “pretty much the same as today,” unless there is a clear reason to think otherwise.

Consider this marvelous word from the prophet Micah, uttered precisely when difficult times loomed, “But as for me, I will watch expectantly for the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation My God will hear me.” Micah 7:7*

Something quite marvelous happens when you realize that ours is the Lord who always loves us, never forsakes us and always comes through for us.  You begin to expect God to work in you!

“For as many as are the promises of God, in Him [Jesus] they are yes.” II Corinthians 1:20

Make a faith-shift today, from expecting only what you can see on the horizon in your own life or in the life of your church to expecting what you can see with the eyes of faith, trusting in the Lord who loves you to come through for you!

"My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth, And My arms will judge the peoples; The coastlands will wait for Me, And for My arm they will wait expectantly.” Isaiah 51:5

“Expect great things from God, attempt great things for God.”  William Carey
