IN-SOURCING

September 21, 2010

"Out-sourcing" is the talk in commerce these past years. In essence, the notion is that you give responsibilities and jobs that are necessary to people, sources, beyond your own organization.

These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands, and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses, and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 6:6-8 TNIV

There is no out-sourcing in discipleship and the practice of the faith. It's an in-sourcing proposition. This is not just about raising children, but followers of Christ are to speak about the faith, call it to mind deliberately, all the time, in all contexts. It can't be jobbed out to the church, to a youth group.

Moses summons the people of God to be intentional, even a bit obsessive-compulsive about keeping the faith commitment front and center. It's about in-sourcing.
Joyfully,
