CRYING

July 23, 2010

Crying
In C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia there is a wonderful scene where a young heroine is crying to which Lewis adds, "Crying is all right while it lasts, but you still have to decide what you are going to do."
He asked her, "woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?"
- John 20:15 TNIV
If there ever were a person who had a good reason to cry, Mary Magdalene may have been that person. Jesus was dead, and she was drowning in grief, only to discover his body's been stolen. Then two angels ask her, "Why are you crying?" only to be followed by the risen Jesus asking her the same question. Crying is fine, but you still have to decide what to do.
Jesus cares about those who cry and the reason for the tears. Yet he invites us beyond the tears to follow him. Cry if you will, then get up and follow the risen Christ. Mary did!
Joyfully,
