MOSES & JESUS

Moses and Jesus were not contemporaries. They were separated by several thousand years.

 "If you believed Moses you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But if you do not believe what he wrote, how will you believe what I say?"
--John 5:46,47 NRS

 But Moses and Jesus were intimately connected. Jews prided themselves on obedience to the Law Moses gave them. Yet Jesus told the people of God that they didn't obey Moses' Law, and didn't heed the words that speak of the coming Son. As to say, "If you believed Moses, you would believe me." Moses and Jesus.

The Apostle Paul in the Letter to the Romans connects Moses and Jesus, about our failure to keep the Law of God, and our need for the grace and mercy of God. That grace came through a cross. That cross carried Jesus. That Jesus resurrected from the cross and death, brings us life through faith in him. What we failed to do by not heeding Moses, we have accomplished through the gift of faith in Jesus.
