Dear Friend,

We know the promise of Jesus that those who seek find but what happens if you aren’t seeking?

“Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles* from Jerusalem, and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them but their eyes were kept from recognizing him.” Luke 24:13-16*

They weren’t seeking Jesus.  They assumed he was dead and hope was gone.

When Jesus began to walk with them there had to be a smile on his lips.  It’s such a joy to know something wonderful that your companions do not know and that you are about to reveal.

Perhaps you feel life is dark or bleak or hopeless.  Perhaps you don’t see God in your world.

Perhaps you are tempted to join those who assert out of pain or hubris that there is no God.

But don’t forget.  It is not you who has the capacity to see God by yourself.  It is God who sees you and who ultimately and only opens your eyes to the presence and reality of Jesus!

“When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight.” Luke 24:30-31

“I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you.” Ephesians 1:17-18a
