LIGHT WALKING

Luke Skywalker. Aside from the fictional character in the Star Wars series, and that was his father's name, I do not know what sky-walking means. But...

 If we claim to have fellowship with him, and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

 Forgiveness of sins: that's a good thing, many of us are heartily grateful for that. But with that good news, comes responsibility. We are to live consistently with the good news. Truth is, as John tells us here, darkness and light do not mix. To claim to be of the light, but dwell, even dabble, in darkness, it just doesn't work.

Forgiveness summons in us gratitude and a longing to be light-walkers. We are the people who walk in the light.
