Question: Do you do what you believe, OR, believe what you do?

Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father David had done....Asa's heart was fully committed to the Lord all his life.
- 1 Kings 15:11,14 TNIV

I confess to you that what is written of Asa is not true of me, but I really want it to be. I'm not "fully commited." How about you? We know that Asa was fully committed to the Lord by his actions. Asa is one of the few exceptions in the long line of the kings of Israel and Judah, many of whom were idolaters, faithless, self-indulgent monarchs. But not Asa, we know it not so much by what he said he believed, but by what he did.

Back to the question. We can say we believe something, but if we don't do it, well, it's little more than a good intention. Asa teaches us that we can learn about what a person truly believes by how they live. He was fully committed to the Lord, and we knew it by watching what he did.
Joyfully,
