HIT PARADE

December 2, 2009

In the early days of television there was a weekly show, Hit Parade, that followed and promoted pop music. Hit Parade let us know the hits, and we heard them performed.

Those who had been victorious over the beast...held harps given by God and sang the song of God's servant Moses and of the Lamb:
"Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty....All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed."
- Revelation 15:2-4 TNIV

Faithfulness has its rewards. The next chapter of John's continuing vision speaks of the faithful who have persevered and stayed focused upon Christ, weathered the storm that the Dragon and the Beast unleashed. The reward at least in part is to have been rescued, to be saved. Their response is to sing a song of God's greatness, the Lord's glory. When we've seen God at work, the response no longer is to arrogantly judge God's worthiness and fairness, but quite the opposite: to realize how great is our God, and how all will come to sing God's praises some day.

The ultimate song will be of God's glory, God's worthiness, it will be #1 on the Hit Parade. Our faithfulness leads us to sing this very song.

Joyfully,

Dale Patterson
