Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

HOLD ON

March 25, 2009

When times are good, we seldom ask, "What am I going to do?" Yet when times are tough, we caught in a fix, we look inside and mutter, "What am I gonna do?"

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If they fall down, they can help each other up. But pity those who fall and have no one to help them up!
- Ecclesiastes 4:9,10 TNIV

Ecclesiastes, the Preacher, understands that much of life at times is absurd-work hard nothing comes of it, sit back and relax, and one prospers. Good people get kicked in the teeth, the wicked buy homes in the Caribbean. Yet Ecclesiastes' theme will be to Hold On. First, hold on to God-to find meaning, hold on to a relationship with God. Second, hold on to one another. Relationships with the people of faith--that's everything, good times or bad.

"A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." (Ecclesiastes 4:12) When we hold on to these things, we get strong.
Joyfully,
