LIVING HERE

October 12, 2009

"The gospel does well in the real world," says my teacher, Earl Palmer. Meaning the message of Christ is not just about the afterlife, but here. As Paul moves into the end of the Letter to the Romans, he's writing about living here.

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. It it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Romans 12:17,18 TNIV

My daughter-in-law shared the other day when encountering a rude aggressive driver, "I just prayed for him. That he would have grace and peace fill his life, rather than live in such an intense and mean-spirited way." (I was NOT the driver, but could have been.) Rather than return the driver with retaliation, she did not allow him to determine her life, but Christ, and his indwelling Spirit shaped her actions.

I think my daughter-in-law gets it. "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:21) Now it's my turn.

Enjoy Life, Enjoy God
Joyfully,
