ADOPTED

With shame I say, the way I lived when I was in my fraternity house was not the way I lived when I was at home.

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."

We have been adopted into the Body of Christ, and are children of God. Therefore we take up residence in a new home. Coming to this new home, I don't live like I did in my old home. I live as a child of the king. I live with the privileges and responsibilities of royalty, and the honor due to my adopted status.

It's part of being born into the kingdom of God. New address, new way of life. It's the fruit of adoption, and the privilege, and the necessity of our new status.
