RELATIVE RIGHTEOUSNESS
August 28, 2009
The good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ only is good news, only makes sense, in light of some really bad news.
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
-Romans 3:20 TNIV
To embrace the good news and grasp the hope of new life, forgiveness in Christ, requires embracing a sobering truth: there is no relative righteousness. It's not about being Gentile, or Jew; it's not about, "I'm not too bad." We are fall short of righteousness, God's standard. We are righteous or not, not sort-of-righteous.
Righteousness is not a relative proposition, but an absolute. It becomes good news when we grasp the bad news.
Joyfully,
